How to import Poliigon Models into Substance Designer
To import models into Substance Designer for material preview, first choose .fbx as your download format from Poliigon.
Right-click on the package in the ‘Explorer’ window and select Link > 3D Scene.
Navigate to the .fbx file you downloaded from Poliigon.
The model will be added to the ‘Resources’ of the package.
Drag and drop the model in the ‘3D View’ window.
How to import Poliigon PBR Textures into Substance Designer
There are a few methods for importing textures into Substance Designer:
Adding single textures to your Substance graph (bundled):
Right-click in your graph and select Add Node > Bitmap.
Select “From File…” and select the texture map you want to import.
Adding single textures to your Substance graph (linked):
Right-click on the package in the ‘Explorer’ window and select Link > Bitmap.
Navigate to the texture maps you downloaded from Poliigon.
The texture will be added to the ‘Resources’ of the package.
Drag and drop the bitmap resource into your material graph.
Adding multiple files or folders to your Library
Go to Edit > Preferences
Select Project > Library tab
Click the + icon to add a custom library path to your downloaded Poliigon materials.
How to import Poliigon HDRIs into Substance Designer
There are a few methods of importing HDRIs into Substance Designer, depending on the intended use:
Adding single HDRIs to your Substance graph (bundled):
Right-click in your graph and select Add Node > Bitmap.
Select “From File…” and select the HDRI you want to import.
Adding single HDRIs to your Substance graph or 3D view (linked):
Right-click on the package in the ‘Explorer’ window and select Link > Bitmap.
Navigate to the HDRI you downloaded from Poliigon.
The texture will be added to the ‘Resources’ of the package.
Drag and drop the HDRI resource into your material graph.
To use the HDRI for environment lighting in the 3D view, drag it from the resources or library. Then, drop it into the 3D view and select ‘Latitude/Longitude Panorama' as the channel type.
