Using Poliigon's Textures and Assets*
*Please note that "assets" refer to anything sold on our site, including textures, models, brushes, HDRs, etc.
Can I use the assets for commercial purposes, such as in a render, animation or printed media such as magazines or t-shirts?
Yes, provided the assets are purchased while on a subscription plan or pack that comes with a Commercial License (Freelancer plan, Production plan or On-demand credit packs).
Can I use the assets in a commercial video game?
Yes, provided the game does NOT have an Open Source License. Also, the assets need to be purchased with a subscription plan with a commercial license, or On-demand credits.
If the assets can be accessed or extracted from your game package, then you must include a text license containing the words “Contains assets from Poliigon.com - Assets may not be redistributed”.
Please note that "video game" is software specifically designed for gaming. Visualization software requires a custom redistribution license.
Can I redistribute the assets with my plugin or third-party software?
No. However we do sell custom redistribution licenses for software vendors looking to incorporate Poliigon assets. Please contact us for more details.
Can I use the assets in a freely distributed game mod, game map or game add-on?
Yes, provided the game does NOT have an Open Source License.
If the assets can be accessed or extracted from your game package, then you must include a text license containing the words “Contains assets from Poliigon.com - assets may not be redistributed”.
Can I use the assets when building a website?
Yes, provided you are not using the assets in preset templates to resell them and if individual textures are not accessible in their raw format. Also, the assets need to be purchased with a subscription plan that comes with a commercial license, or On-demand credits.
Can I embed the textures in a model and make it available under the Creative Commons license?
Unfortunately not. The creative commons license is incompatible with our site. You can, however, provide links in your project files (eg. .blend) for the textures needed for your blend. This will enable users to download it themselves.
Can I embed textures in a model or scene file that I sell or redistribute?
Yes, provided your end product is NOT intended to be a bundled release of our textures (eg. to resell a package of models containing extractable textures in a material library). The model must be of your own original content and any attempt to use this allowance for the reselling of the textures for profit is not allowed. You must also include a text license with the project file called "Poliigon Textures" and inside it should say “Contains textures from Poliigon.com - Textures may not be redistributed. Check Poliigon.com for full licensing.”.
Also, the assets need to be purchased with a subscription plan with a commercial license, or On-demand credits.
Can I embed models into a scene file that I sell or redistribute it?
Unfortunately no. The models in a project file usually attributes to a lot of it's value, so we can't allow redistribution of this kind. However, as per FAQ question directly above, you may use textures in your scene.
Do I need to include a Poliigon link or credits when using the assets?
Except in cases where a text license is necessary: a) Selling or redistributing models with extractable textures (see above) and b) Releasing game add-ons (see above) - no, you do not need to include a license, but you are welcome to do so.
Can I modify the textures and sell them as my own?
No. The amount of modification is too hard to specify, and allowing this will invite abuse. Therefore any selling of textures, even if modified, is forbidden.
Can I use texture(s) in a shader, and then sell the shader?
No. This is considered as a resale. This includes real-time materials sold through the Unreal Marketplace and Unity Marketplace.
Can I use the assets after my paid membership has ended?
Yes! Once you have downloaded them, you can use them when needed. However all usage, whether your subscription is active or expired, must fall within all of our terms and conditions and also within your plan's limits (eg. Hobby plans do not have a commercial license).
Can I use the assets from the Free section for commercial purposes?
Assets from the Free section can be used for commercial purposes, like all other assets, provided you acquired them while subscribed to a plan that permits commercial use, such as the Freelancer or Production plan, or buy an On-demand credit pack to acquire assets for commercial purposes.
Can I use the assets in a trademarked logo?
No. A logo created with our assets may not be trademarked as the assets are the property of Poliigon.
